Final Movie for Drop-Box/Hand-in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd4ntXuE7l0

Had some trouble with the windows movie maker software. My movie re-opened the next morning 'corrupted' by then it was too late to try and add the 'balls' into the start of the movie. This was fustrating as I had perfected my footage, filming and the movie the night before. The link posted is my FINAL digi movie! enjoy.

Feedback & Critique: (from submission video)

I am going to Introduce the glowing ‘ball’(s) at the start of my film so the end and the start will link back to all of the movie. I will do this by making the ball not so ‘random’ so that it ties into the models concept and film. I like the way the model is reflecting figure ground at sections of the film. I think i will take ollies feedback and refilm sections so that there is a link between the start-middle-end of film. This will create even more of a 'world' inhabitated model.  I still really like the hand texture of the model and the glowing, black and white effects, so am not going to change this. I played around with adding 'still' shots of my movie into my film. Although, I decided I didnt like the way it flowed into/with the movie so left the shots out and will post the shots with the end movie.

Inside view of FINAL model in CryEngine
(Snapshot from Submission Movie)

Getting my new model moving: (Animation)

View inside the 'tunnel' developing
Material/Colour: Hand drawn pencil & ink texture.
To push this even further I am going to explore duplicating the model
and creating a world full of these 'tunnel like vortexes'
spinning un-controllably in space.
Troubles & Remakes:

I have decided to start my model from scratch in CryEngine, although still importing the 'Datum' conept from SketchUp. I chose to do this because, my work deleted from week 10 and I started to get attached to my model as I had spent so many weeks on it so wasnt playing and trying new things to explode the model and make the inhabiting a bigger deal. The new model I feel has more potential to meet the brief and explore 'space.' The new uploads of the model being developed through SketchUp into CryEngine are in the posts above..

My thoughts:
I enjoyed this lesson because it was good to go back through this project starting from scratch and for me, realising how much I have learnt and the new skills I have that I wasn't exploring and pushing concepts further in my other model. The key thing I would like to take from this lesson would be to use my own hand-drawn texture on my final model, also I think I am at a point where I need to 'critique' and 'analyse' my model so that I am still 'playing & practicing' with CryEngine and aiming for a high standard of a final outcome.

100 Words:
My design intentions and where I want to go from here.
I have been struggling with the new software of CryEngine and figuring out how to accomplish things that I want my model to do or look like. From here i want to be able to 'step' inside my model and actually 'inhabit' it as right now it seems to be only floating in space! I also want to start placing the lights more structurally within my model and start to move these lights in sequence through it.
The animation of the model I have already started learning about and want to push this further to really explore how this thing can be moved as i want it to be really weird like and almost flying at you through this digital game engine/ movie clip.

sort of scary and intense

Inhabiting Form & Space

I chose this model as a point of departure because, It has potential to be 'inhabited' and with development can become 'interactive.' This model can be reformed and developed further. I will do this by sketching, playing, experimenting and trialing with the model and design principals to further my skills throughout this brief. I would like to exiperment the idea of pulling apart this model to have particles breaking off and moving through space at allocated times and allow the viewer to feel 'inside' the model.
